Cheesecake anyone? Many of you have experienced the amazing and delicious small business, Schoolhouse Cheesecakes, that was started in 2017 by UCCEO team member, Bryce Osman. His mom, Jennifer Osman, school teacher by day and baker extraordinaire in her off time, had an amazing cheesecake recipe that was loved by family and friends. Bryce wanted to expand on that and make it his individual business venture for CEO. Jen was all for it, BUT, Bryce had to do the work, which in this case was mastering the art of baking cheesecakes, along with everything else that goes into starting a small business. He did, and Schoolhouse Cheesecakes was born!
Bryce was graduating and going on to college to play sports so he was unable to carry on the business. Covid hit and Jen was going stir-crazy. Shane Osman, Jen’s husband, Bryce’s dad, and a correctional officer, suggested they carry on the business by selling slices at the local Anna Farmer’s Market. They were a big hit! Within a year or so, Shane retired from the correctional system and they converted some space in the garage into a commercial bakery and expanded the business.
2025 is the beginning of their 4th year of having the bakery and providing their cheesecakes to many customers, both locally and regionally. They offer over 30 different flavors and are always open to customer requests. Their cheesecake slices and/or bites are sold at Kiki's Coffeehouse, Farmstead Market, StarView Vineyards, Peachbarn Winery & Café, Havisham Bourbon, Brew & Spirits and Taco Jim's. They take orders for whole cakes, cheesecake cups, and their bites and average about 30 cheesecakes going out per week!
Jen and Shane are passionate about this business and giving back to their community. They do an annual fundraiser for the AJCHS Lady Wildcat soccer team and are passionate supporters of UCCEO. They love helping people and giving back and honestly are just as passionate about that part of their business as they are about putting out quality, delicious cheesecakes. Their story is amazing and their enthusiasm is infectious! We had a great visit AND indulged in some of that cheesecake!😋
As part of our recruiting efforts for next year’s UCCEO team, we have asked some of our business owners for permission to bring students who are interested in applying for the 2026 school year, to experience an actual business visit with us. Jen and Shane were gracious enough to participate so 6 AJCHS students and one Cobden studen came along for the experience. What a full circle moment for a UCCEO business to grow and expand and help us share the UCCEO culture and opportunity with future team members?!?!?
