A visit with Will Pyatt, at Anna Quarries, Inc., is always interesting, to say the least. It is also pretty amazing! Most people have no idea what goes on inside the confines of the business. They are open from 6 am to 5 pm and it is par for the course for 2-300 loads of rock to go out most days. One of the most important jobs there, is the water truck driver who hauls water all day to spray down the yard for dust or take it wherever else itβs needed. Otherwise, it could get so thick it could affect visibility.
The whole place is bustling with activity. They do a daily blast to meet the demand for more rock. The heavy equipment operators are pushing and loading the rock into gigantic trucks that haul it to the crusher. The crusher is crushing the rock into different sizes which is then transported to the different piles. There are other positions filled with people to maintain all of the machinery and equipment needed to do the work.
Will and David Whitaker took us on a tour during our visit. We drove to the top of the pit where we were able to look down and see what was happening. We then drove down into the pit and it was astounding to then look UP at where we had been a few minutes before. We then drove over to one of the βledgesβ where we got to see from a little closer distance, some drilling and loading rocks into one of the big trucks. From above, we had no clue that the tires on those trucks were as tall as the pickup trucks we were riding in. ππ
We then drove over to the inactive pit that is now filled with water. It is breathtakingly beautiful, especially with the huge American Flag billowing in the breeze!
Will does an amazing job of explaining what is going on and answering our questions! He is able to tell us in βlaymenβs termsβ so we can really grasp what we are seeing. I hope you all enjoy these videos. If you turn your sound up, you can hear some of the details Will shares as well as the roar of the machines. In my professional opinion, It. Is. Pretty Cool.
Thank you to Will and David for a fabulous morning!!! We had a great time and can assure you that Anna Quarries, Inc, does in fact, ROCK. π
