On Thursday last week, we had the honor of Bill Ecker - State Farm Agent speaking to us at the Pizza Villa. Bill is the owner of a State Farm Insurance office in Marion and was one of the initial group of people responsible for bringing UCCEO to our community. We always look forward to his visit!

Bill is one of our first guest speakers each year and helps introduce the students to the importance of a good handshake, reading body language and nonverbal cues, along with other professional soft skills! He always shares some of his amazing life experiences and never fails to WOW the students with his adventures! This year was no different and his trip to Egypt is always a favorite!

Bill also shared the importance of good customer service and explained how empathy is something he shows his clients. As an insurance agent, he sees people dealing with some tough, sometimes tragic, circumstances and he strives to be the “best part of their worst day”. Team member, Kenzie Stover shares this in her journal:

“On Thursday morning, we went to Pizza Villa where Mr. Bill Ecker was our guest speaker. Not only is Mr. Ecker an insurance agent but he is also a very kind and intelligent man who gave us good insight on many different aspects of life, as well as telling us some amazing stories. As an insurance agent, Bill has a lot to deal with on a day to day basis but in order to fulfill his goals of making a difference in the lives of others, Bill has set a goal to be, "the best part of someone's worst day". This stood out to me so much because of what Mr. Ecker said about empathy. He discussed with us that empathy and compassion are things that he will never regret giving to a client, and to me that really showed his character. I took a lot out of this visit because even though Mr. Ecker's customers all go through tragic events and he is seeing these kinds of occurrences all the time, he still shows kindness and helps them out in hard times. This is a great lesson, not just in business, but in life to just be as kind as possible to others and to be a light to the people around you. This was not only a fantastic visit, but my favorite CEO class so far!”

Thank you Bill for sharing your time, your stories and your values with us and thank you for your continued support of our program!❤️

Sending a big Thank You to The Villa-Pizza Villa for letting us use your amazing space!!!🍕❤️
